Essential Oil Hydrotherapy
Essential oils are a rare and precious gift from nature.
The character of each oil is revealed in its unique fragrance, leading to
specific uses in aromatherapy. Each oil appeals to the higher self of the
patient and works specifically through the warmth organization. The healing
properties of essential oils can be be enhanced by finely dispersing them
in bath water through the use of a small, patented glass apparatus. During
bathing, the essential oil is absorbed through the skin at an increased rate
which has been shown through research conducted by the University of Munich.
This avoids the use of artificial emusifiers would negate the healing properties
of the oil.
Therapeutic
Uses
Decades of use in a variety of settings have produced a
wealth of information as to which oil may be helpful for which condition.
Finding the best possible oil for a given patient and a given condition is
a very important step in the process. Clinical indications have included depression,
chronic anxiety states, chronic fatigue syndrome, immune and metabolic weakness,
as well as cardiorespiratory and arthritic disorders. Also, patients at different
stages of malignancies and neurologic disorders have found relief from their
symptoms.
Your Hydrotherapy Experience
It is best to arrive without hurry, not too hungry but
not overstimulated by food and drink. Your bath experience should be a pleasant
one. Approximately twenty minutes will be spent in the bath water at near
body temperature. The trained therapist may give an underwater brushing massage
or apply specific water movements. You will breathe the subtle fragrance of
the chosen oil. Afterwards, you will be wrapped in sheets and blankets for
a one hour rest period. This is as important as the bath itself. Your temperature
will be checked before and after. During and after the bath, there is often
a small rise in temperature, a pleasant warmth sensation throughout the body
and a feeling of "authenticity" like "I feel more like myself"
and "my life belongs to me again".
